BEFORE TAKING THE ORCHESTRA OF ST. LUKE'S TO THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL AND THE LONDON BBC PROMS, DONALD RUNNICLES CONDUCTS THE OSL FOR THE CARAMOOR FESTIVAL FINALE ON AUGUST 12 WITH GUEST PIANIST INGRID FLITER - THE YOUNG ARGENTINE WINNER OF THE 2006 GILMORE ARTIST AWARD

New York, July 31 -Last weekend Donald Runnicles conducted his final concerts of the 2006 Grand Teton Music Festival. In his new role as the festival's music director, Runnicles spent the first four weeks of the festival conducting, playing chamber music and enjoying the indescribable beauty of the region with his family. The festival continues for four more weeks with Runnicles's choices of programs, guest soloists and conductors. Maestro Runnicles continues his summer conducting at some of the world's most respected festival venues.

World Premiere with Superstar Cellist Yo-Yo Ma
In early August, Mr. Runnicles travels east for his Boston Symphony debut on August 4, at Tanglewood, on an auspicious occasion. He will conduct the world premiere of Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, a Concerto for Cello and Orchestra, with dedicatee Yo-Yo Ma as soloist. The work is a commission by the Boston Symphony for its 125th anniversary. The conductor's second BSO concert, two days later, features both pianist Lars Vogt, playing Beethoven's "Emperor" concerto, and a suite from Strauss's Rosenkavalier - one of the Maestro's repertory favorites - an orchestral distillation of Viennese atmosphere.

The Orchestra of St. Luke's is in residence all summer at the Caramoor Festival in Katonah, NY. Mr. Runnicles, the orchestra's Principal Conductor, conducts the OSL at Caramoor's "Festival Finale" on August 12, before taking the orchestra to Great Britain.
Argentine pianist Ingrid Fliter joins Maestro Runnicles and the OSL in her first New York area appearance since she won the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award for 2006. Mr. Runnicles also conducted her first post-Gilmore concert when he invited her to replace an ailing colleague at short notice to play with the Atlanta Symphony - where Mr. Runnicles is Principal Guest Conductor.

St. Luke's UK tour includes a concert at the Edinburgh Festival, in Donald Runnicles's home town, and another at the BBC Proms in London's Royal Albert Hall. Later Mr. Runnicles returns to Edinburgh to conduct the BBC Scottish Symphony before finally getting a bit of free time.

His San Francisco Opera season begins on September 9 with Johann Strauss's Fledermaus, starring Christine Goerke in her SFO debut as Rosalinde, and veteran Wolfgang Brendel as the ever-erring Eisenstein. Prosit New Season!
